PMO Project Management Office Maturity

PMO Maturity

A PMO cannot launch all at once and provide all the services that would be of benefit to the organization. At the same time, if the PMO starts small and solves just a few problems, it can be pigeon-holed as only serving that narrow function. Then it won't be allowed to grow and benefit the organization in additional ways.

The solution is to provide a growth plan that charts the PMO's planned development over several years. This growth plan follows the path of PMO maturity, which we introduce here and discuss in greater detail on the PMO Maturity page of the learning section. PMO maturity refers to the growth of services and benefits to the organization over time.

A PMO can grow through 3 different levels of maturity: basic, standard, and advanced.
