Planning the Project Office20 January 2008Planning the Project Office In defining the entire PMO, and also in planning each PMO Service, it is crucial to understand the difference between the outputs that the PMO does control, and the activities and outcomes outside the PMO that the PMO desires, but does not control. An excellent way to do this is to define measurable outputs and outcomes, then measure the results of the PMO's efforts in terms of: -Outputs, which demonstrate that the PMO is working effectively and efficiently. -Desired outcomes, which demonstrate that the PMO is achieving the goals and objectives defined in its business case and charter, and each service is beneficial to the organization. -Unintended outcomes that may arise, which may be either beneficial or problematic.
