Project Management Office Life Cycle05 February 2008Project Management Office Life Cycle If the PMO fails to gain and maintain influence, it will have these effects during each stage of the life cycle: PMO Initiation. The PMO Charter may not be approved, and the PMO not funded. Or the PMO may be reduced in size and scope. Or the PMO may be set up on paper, but full cooperation is not granted, and so its effectiveness is hampered. PMO Planning. Stakeholders may: not open up and assist in the definition of the most crucial issues the PMO should address be unresponsive, creating delays not provide information, or provide inaccurate information, to sabotage the PMO PMO Execution. Stakeholders may simply not make use of the PMO's methods and services. They may continue working in their own way, or even go out and develop their own methodologies. They may not attend trainings. They may disregard the PMO's contribution to project reviews and the PMO's audit findings. They may refuse to provide staff for projects managed by the PMO, or not allow staff enough time to complete project assignments. They may not work with a Directive PMO to define project requirements, or be responsive with prompt evaluation of deliverables. PMO Improvement.
