Charter and Business Case Components

28 April 2008

Choose how to publicize components. Each section of the charter and the business case is publicized in a different way.

Understand active and passive publicity. In publicity, some information is presented in the foreground, other information left in the background.

Define stakeholder groups. Each group of users of PMO services should be approached differently.

Choose forms of publicity. A web site, meetings and presentations, and email campaigns are common. Other methods can be used.

Present required services. Some services, such as phase reviews of projects, may be required. Publicizing required service is a bit different than publicizing optional ones. For a required service, the PMO must present the fact that the service must be used, but do so without generating resistance.

Create the charter publication checklist. There is a project management template for this checklist in the Publicity Plan.

Develop materials. Write content for presentations, web site articles, emails, and other forms of publicity.

Develop schedule. Develop a scheduled for releasing the material.

Publicize charter and business case. Following the schedule, publicize the Project Management Software charter and business case.
