PMO Post-Implementation Review

As a result, the appropriate time for a PIR is after project completion and product acceptance. Three months after is a general guideline, but will be too short in some cases. In some cases, six months or a year after project completion is appropriate.

Participants in the PIR

Because the PIR occurs after project completion, the project team is likely to already be disbanded and unavailable. The only time a full project team is involved in the PIR is when the team has remained together to work on additional projects, and is available to perform the PIR as a team. This is most likely to occur if the project team is assigned to multiple projects within one program or for support of a product or product line.
