PMO Zero Defects

In the aerospace industry, acceptable results often means zero defects, because any defect threatens the safety of human life. Organizations can self-assess, improve, and re-assess their maturity level to measure progress. They can also seek external certification of their CMMI level, and some government agencies and major contractors around the world require this of their suppliers, and even of the sub-contractors of their suppliers.Although CMM® was specifically designed for software development contractors and project teams, the notion of maturity is more general than that. It can apply to any organizational capability and to any organizational structure.
