Project Management Maturity

Applying maturity to project management

In 2003, after several years of development, the PMI picked up on the concept of organization maturity and released the Organizational Project Management Maturity Model, OPM3. The core document is the Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3): Knowledge Foundation, available at www.pmi.org. It applies the CMM approach to project management in general. OPM3 offers a series of four levels of maturity in project management. An organization can assess its current level, and then plan how to reach the next level. As discussed in the Capabilities and Best Practices Learning pages, OPM3 defines several hundred best practices for project, program, and portfolio management
