Project Management Network of PMO's21 December 2008Project Management Network of PMO's Developing a network of PMOs, including not only Project Management Offices, but also Program Management Offices and a Portfolio Management Office. This approach follows the Centre of Excellence (COE) model from the British OGC, as described on the Standards Learning page. The Portfolio Management Office, which may also be called a COE or a Strategic PMO, ensures upward communication of project status. It may also provide the controlling function, or this may be provided by a separate Controlling PMO. Each program is managed by a Program Management Office that brings information from all projects to the center of the program, then reports upwards to the Portfolio Management Office. In addition, there is a Supportive PMO that provides the project management methodology and training in it, and supports continuous improvement.Posted in General
