Define software requirements. Requirements for project management software fall into two broad categories: functional and technical. Functional requirements are those requirements necessary to make the application work in the business environment, including:
§ User features and usability § Compatibility with methodology, standards, and processes § Security, access control, and compatibility with governance requirements § Data management functions § Capacity and scalability
Technical requirements include all requirements necessary for the project management templates program to work on the computer system and with other computer programs in use, including: § Ability to function on the hardware and operating system § Capacity of the hardware and operating system to support the application § Compatibility with the network and communications protocols § Compatibility with other software applications
By defining these requirements, the PMO team ensures that the software applications will function well for the business and on its computer systems. |
