Project Management Data Analyst Requirements
03 March 2009
The data analyst takes these five steps to prepare the functional requirements for the project management kit database:
1. Create a list of user groups. 2. For each user group, define all interfaces. 3. Describe the functional requirements, such as accessibility, printing, and presentation format. 4. Identify the data dictionary elements used on each interface. 5. For each data element, determine if the element is viewed, edited, entered, or deleted.
Here is a partial example of a set of project manager database functional requirements. | Database Functional Requirements2/1/2007 | | User group | Interface | Accessibility and Presentation | Data Dictionary Elements (Use) | | Executive | Executive Dashboard | Networked PCs only, graphic presentation of summary status, view only | Project name (text - view)Project risk factor (visual dial - view)Project time ratio (visual dial - view)Project cost ratio (visual dial - view). . . | | All users | Timesheet | Project names and tasks shown, hours worked entered on each task | Project name (view)Worker name (view)Task name (view)Date (select and view)Hours worked (enter and edit) | | Project managers | Timesheet review | Project names, tasks, worker name, task name, date, and hours shown, acceptance edit | Project name (select and view)Worker name (select and view)Task name (view)Worker name (view)Date (view)Hours worked (view)Accept timesheet (enter/edit) | | | | | | | | | | |
