Evaluate Relevant External Databases

A core database engine will need to be acquired and then set up with the table definitions defined in the requirements. Determining which database will be used is fairly straightforward. Here are the steps:

1.      Identify which RDBMS systems are supported by the IT division.

2.      Determine whether an RDBMS plus custom programming and links to other software, or an RDBMS embedded in a project scheduling or project management software solution is preferred.

3.      Create a short list (usually one to three) of RDBMS solutions.

4.      Evaluate each solution against project management life cycle requirements.

5.      Choose the best solution.
