Prepare Project Management Database Adoption Schedule

Prepare Project Management Database Adoption Schedule

The database adoption schedule is prepared in the two steps shown in this diagram:

1. Prepare Statement of Approach

2. Prepare Database Milestone Chart

n

Prepare statement of approach. This statement defines how the new PMO RDBMS will be acquired and developed, and also how datasets and data structures from older systems will be handled.

n

Prepare database milestone chart. The database adoption schedule is a milestone chart for the work of preparing the new PMO RDBMS for activation. It is created by coordinating the database execution plan with all other execution plans and by allocating sufficient resources to complete the work in the time specified.

It is important to note that having a new PMO RDBMS is not necessarily essential to launching the PMO Project Execution phase and providing services. A PMO can offer many services before a single database solution is implemented. Whether the database solution should be implemented in time for the first PMO services, or whether PMO services should be offered and the new PMO RDBMS be added later is a strategic decision for the PMO project manager .
