MPMM Method123 Project Management Methodology

Online Project Management Software

10 April 2009

Here is a partial example of an adoption schedule for a online project management knowledge management system:

Statement of Approach

What development approach will be used? acquire components, integrate, configure, and customize

Who is the project manager? PMO IT Lead

When will the project start? 5/1/2010

What is the projected completion date? 2/2/2011

What is the approach to active projects using the knowledge base system?

  • Projects with less than 6 months to completion can either be finished on the old system or converted over at the completion of a phase, at the discretion of the project manager.
  • Projects with more than 6 months to completion will be moved over within 4 months of the go-live date, on a date agreed on by the project manager and the PMO.

What is the overall approach to the inclusion of current data?

  • Data from current projects being converted will be included at conversion time.
  • Data from current projects not being converted will be included within one month of project completion.
  • Data from completed projects on the current system (all projects from the last three years) will be converted during development, and will be available on go-live day.

What is the overall approach to the inclusion of historical data?

Each dataset will be evaluated for its value to current project management templates and technical practices. If its value exceeds cost, then the conversion will be performed. Alternative methods of conversion will be evaluated for cost-effectiveness.
