It is important to note that the improvements being discussed here are part of the routine operations of PMO Project Execution Phase . Small changes and improvements are a necessary aspect of any service. The work required to implement them is part of the routine schedule and budget of the PMO during execution. These small, continuous improvements are very different from the larger, planned improvements that occur during the PMO Improvement Phase of the PMO Life Cycle. There are five differences. Unlike the small routine improvements discussed here, the larger improvements of the PMO Improvement Phase:

- Include major changes to services and addition or cancellation of services

- Include an evaluation of the services in relation to the PMO charter

- Are the result of a larger assessment and planning effort

- Require resources specially devoted to those changes

- May require changes to the PMO charter
