Key Project Management Service Features30 June 2009Define Key Project Management Service FeaturesFirst, determine if the PMO should offer this service. Then adapt the typical key features below to suit the Project Management Life Cycle . Which PMOs should provide the report status service?Every project should routinely deliver status information to all stakeholders. If there is no PMO, this activity is performed by the project management software manager. If there is a PMO, the PMO usually takes over this function. Therefore, in almost all cases, a PMO will provide the Report Status Service. Here are the exceptions: § In organizations with very well run projects, the project manager for each project do the work of reporting status. The PMO can provide guidelines for how this is to be done in the methodology. § If other offices, such as program or portfolio management offices, handle status reporting, then the PMO should not, to avoid duplication of effort.
